Wisdom and knowledge - in the Quran

In the Quran, wisdom and knowledge are highly valued and are seen as essential for leading a good and righteous life. While the two terms are related, they are distinct concepts that are often used in different contexts.

Knowledge, in the Quranic sense, refers to the acquisition of information, understanding, and skills through learning and experience. It is emphasized in the Quran that seeking knowledge is a duty for every Muslim, and that the pursuit of knowledge should be accompanied by humility and a desire to serve others. The Quran also highlights the importance of gaining knowledge not only of religious matters but also of the natural world and human society.

Wisdom, on the other hand, refers to the ability to apply knowledge in a way that is appropriate, just, and beneficial. Wisdom is not just about possessing information but also about knowing how to use that information to make sound judgments and decisions. In the Quran, wisdom is often associated with piety, righteousness, and good character, and it is seen as a gift from God that is granted to those who seek it.

Both knowledge and wisdom are seen as crucial for achieving success in this life and in the hereafter. Muslims are encouraged to seek knowledge and to use that knowledge wisely in order to fulfill their obligations to God and to their fellow human beings.
