The story of the Prophet Sulayman (Solomon) and the queen of Sheba - in the Quran

The story of Prophet Sulayman (Solomon) and the queen of Sheba, also known as Bilqis, is mentioned in the Quran in Surah An-Naml, Chapter 27, Verses 20-44. In summary, the story goes as follows:

One day, Sulayman received a message from the queen of Sheba in which she asked for his guidance and assistance. Sulayman was able to understand the letter of Bilqis, despite it being written in an unknown language. He then asked his companions if any of them could bring him her throne before she arrives, and one of them, who was knowledgeable in the scriptures, was able to bring it to him in a moment.

When Bilqis arrived, Sulayman invited her to enter her palace, which was made of glass so that it appeared to be a body of water. Thinking that the water would wet her dress, she lifted her dress slightly, revealing her legs. Sulayman then informed her that the palace was made of glass and not water.

Bilqis was impressed by Sulayman's wisdom, knowledge, and power, as well as his just and righteous rule. Sulayman then invited her to embrace the true faith of Islam and to worship Allah alone, but she was hesitant at first. However, after observing the miracles of Allah and the signs of His power, she eventually embraced Islam and submitted herself to Allah's will.

In some variations of the story, it is also mentioned that Sulayman and Bilqis eventually married and had a child together. However, this is not mentioned in the Quran.

The story of the Prophet Sulayman (Solomon) and the queen of Sheba is mentioned in four verses in the Quran. These are Surah An-Naml, Chapter 27, Verses 22-25.

Surah An-Naml, Chapter 27, Verses 22-25:

So when she came, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah ]."

And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people.

She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Sulayman to Allah , Lord of the worlds."

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah ," and at once they were two parties conflicting.

The story of the Prophet Sulayman (Solomon) and the queen of Sheba, also known as Bilqis, is mentioned in the Quran in several verses, including Surah An-Naml, Chapter 27, Verses 22-44. The queen of Sheba, who had heard of the wisdom and wealth of Sulayman, traveled to meet him and brought gifts. Sulayman recognized the queen's throne in her gift, which was transported to him through the power of jinn. He invited her to Islam, and she acknowledged the truth and submitted to Allah. Sulayman offered her the choice of marrying him or remaining queen of her people, and she chose to return to her kingdom.
