Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel... (Quran 2:97)

"Say, 'Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the Qur'an down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers.'" (Quran 2:97)

In this verse, Allah is instructing the Prophet Muhammad to say to the disbelievers, "Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the Qur'an down upon your heart". This statement emphasizes the important role of the Angel Gabriel in the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad.

According to Islamic belief, Angel Gabriel is one of the most significant angels and played a crucial role in conveying the message of Allah to the Prophets of Allah. In the case of the Prophet Muhammad, Angel Gabriel was the one who brought the revelation of the Quran from Allah to the Prophet, verse by verse, over a period of 23 years.

The revelation of the Quran was a significant event in Islamic history and is believed to be the final and complete revelation from Allah to humanity. The Quran contains guidance and teachings for all aspects of life, and it is considered the ultimate source of truth and knowledge in Islam.

In this verse, Allah is reminding the disbelievers that their hostility towards Angel Gabriel is, in fact, directed towards the one who brought the Quran down upon the Prophet's heart by permission of Allah. This verse also confirms the authenticity of the Quran as a divine revelation, which was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad through the Angel Gabriel.

The verse highlights the important role of Angel Gabriel in the revelation of the Qur'an and emphasizes the unity of the message throughout history, as the Qur'an confirms what was revealed in previous scriptures. It also emphasizes that the Qur'an is a guidance and good tidings for the believers, and that those who reject it or are hostile towards it are ultimately rejecting and being hostile towards Allah's guidance.

Furthermore, this verse reminds us that all of the messengers of Allah, including Prophet Muhammad and Angel Gabriel, were sent to guide humanity to the truth and should be respected and honored.
