The envy and regret of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise - in the Quran

The Quran mentions the envy and regret of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise. The Quran verses emphasize the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise. The disbelievers will be driven to Hell and reminded that they were warned about the punishment of Hell, but they rejected the message. In contrast, the believers will be driven to Paradise and will be grateful to Allah for fulfilling His promise. The disbelievers will ask Allah to show them those who misled them so that they can punish them, but they will be told that they will be in Hell along with those who misled them. These Quran verses highlight the consequences of disbelief and rejection of Allah's guidance.

Here are some verses that speak about this:

"And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, 'Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allah has provided you.' They will say, 'Indeed, Allah has forbidden them both to the disbelievers.'" (7:50) These verses describe how the people of Hell will ask the people of Paradise to give them some water or any provision that Allah has given them. The people of Paradise will refuse, saying that Allah has forbidden it to the disbelievers. This shows the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

"And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. They will say, 'Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful.' Therefore, remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman. Or do they say, '[He is] a poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?' Say, 'Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiting.'" (52:25-30) These verses describe how the people of Paradise will approach each other and speak about their fear of Allah before. They will thank Allah for His favor and protection from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. They will acknowledge that they used to supplicate Allah before, and recognize Him as the Beneficent and Merciful. This highlights the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

"Until, when they reach it [Hellfire], their hearing and their eyes and their skins will testify against them of what they used to do. And they will say to their skins, 'Why have you testified against us?' They will say, 'We were made to speak by Allah, who has made everything speak; and He created you the first time, and to Him you are returned.'" (41:20-21) These verses describe how the people of Hell will argue with their own body parts, as their hearing, eyes, and skins testify against them of what they used to do. This shows the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise, as they recognize that they have brought this punishment upon themselves.

"And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? [They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water and a shade of black smoke, neither cool nor beneficial. Indeed, they were, before that, indulging in affluence, and they used to persist in the great violation. And they used to say, 'When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? And our forefathers as well?' Say, 'Indeed, the former and the later [generations] will be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day.' Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, will be eating from trees of zaqqum and filling with it your bellies and drinking on top of it from scalding water and will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels. That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense." (56:41-56) These verses describe the punishment of the people of the left, who will be in scorching fire and scalding water, with a shade of black smoke. They will eat from the tree of zaqqum, drink scalding water, and suffer a painful punishment. The passage also highlights the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise, as they ask if they will be resurrected and if their forefathers will also be resurrected. The response is that everyone will be gathered together on the Day of Recompense.

"And those who disbelieve say, 'Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?' Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly. And they do not come to you with an argument except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation. The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way." (25:32-34) These verses describe how the disbelievers question why the Qur'an was not revealed all at once, and how Allah responds by saying that it is spaced out for the benefit of the believers. The passage then speaks about the punishment of those who are gathered on their faces to Hell, describing them as the worst in position and farthest astray. This again highlights the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

"And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction. [They will be told], 'Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction.'" (25:13-14) These verses describe how the people of Hell will be thrown into a narrow place, bound in chains, and will cry out for destruction. They will be told not to cry for just one destruction, but for much destruction. This emphasizes the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise, as they recognize the magnitude of their punishment.

"And those who disbelieve will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, 'Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?' They will say, 'Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers.' [To them] it will be said, 'Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant.' But those who feared their Lord will be driven to Paradise in groups until, when they reach it while its gates have been opened and its keepers say, 'Peace be upon you; you have become pure; so enter it to abide eternally therein,' [they will enter]. And they will say, 'Praise to Allah, who has fulfilled for us His promise and made us inherit the earth [so] we may settle in Paradise wherever we will. And excellent is the reward of [righteous] workers.'" (39:71-74) These verses describe how the disbelievers will be driven to Hell in groups and will enter its gates to abide there forever. They will be reminded that they were warned by messengers about the punishment of Hell, but they did not listen. On the other hand, the believers will be driven to Paradise in groups and will enter its gates to abide there forever. They will be welcomed by its keepers and will be grateful to Allah for fulfilling His promise. This passage highlights the envy and regret of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

"And those who disbelieved said, 'Our Lord, show us those who misled us of the jinn and men [so] we may put them under our feet that they will be among the lowest.'" (41:29) These verses describe how the disbelievers will ask Allah to show them those who misled them from among the jinn and men, so that they can punish them. However, they will be told that both they and those who misled them will be in Hell, and that they will be among the lowest. This again emphasizes the regret and envy of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

"And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, 'Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?' They will say, 'Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers.' [To them] it will be said, 'Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant.'" (39:71-72) These verses describe how the disbelievers will be driven to Hell in groups, and when they reach its gates, they will be reminded that they were warned about the punishment of Hell by messengers. However, they rejected the message, and punishment will be upon them. This again highlights the envy and regret of the people of Hell towards the people of Paradise.

Overall, the Quran describes how the people of Hell will feel regret and envy towards the people of Paradise, recognizing that they have missed out on Allah's favor and protection. These verses serve as a warning to believers, urging them to follow Allah's guidance and avoid the punishment of Hellfire.
