Plants according to the Quran

In the Quran, plants are mentioned as one of the many signs of Allah's power and creation. There are several verses in the Quran that describe the beauty and benefits of plants, and how they are evidence of Allah's mercy and generosity towards humankind. For example, Surah Al-An'am, Verse 59 states: "And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record."

The Quran also encourages humans to take care of the environment and to use plants and other resources in a responsible manner. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 165 states: "And it is He who has made you successors upon the earth and has raised some of you above others in degrees [of rank] that He may try you through what He has given you. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful."

Additionally, the Quran mentions several types of plants, including fruit-bearing trees such as dates and grapes, grains such as wheat and barley, and herbs such as basil and garlic. It also describes gardens and orchards as symbols of paradise and the rewards for those who believe and do good deeds.

Here are some Quranic verses related to plants:

"It is He who sends down water from the sky with which to cleanse yourselves and to irrigate the earth, and to replenish it with all kinds of fruit, and with the growth of palm-trees and date-palms, and to cause gardens to grow, and with the grasses and the shrubs." (Quran 16:10-11)

"Do you not see how God has created everything on the earth for your use? Ships sail on the sea by His command, and He holds back the sky so that it does not fall on the earth except by His leave. God is most compassionate and merciful to people." (Quran 22:65)

"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for people of knowledge. And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for people of knowledge. And among His signs is the sleep you take by night and by day, and your seeking of His bounty. In this are signs for people who hear." (Quran 30:22-24)

"And it is He who sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby the growth of all things. We produce from it greenery from which We produce grains arranged in layers. And from the palm trees – of its emerging fruit are clusters hanging low. And [We produce] gardens of grapevines and olives and pomegranates, similar yet varied. Look at [each of] its fruit when it yields and [at] its ripening. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe." (Quran 6:99)

"Do you not see that God sends down rain from the sky, and We produce thereby fruits of varying colors? And in the mountains are tracts, white and red of varying shades, and [some] extremely black." (Quran 35:27)

"It is He who produces gardens, trellised and untrellised, and palm trees and crops of different [kinds of] food and olives and pomegranates, similar and dissimilar. Eat of [each of] its fruit when it yields and give its due [zakah] on the day of its harvest. And be not excessive. Indeed, He does not like those who commit excess." (Quran 6:141)

"And Allah has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him]." (Quran 16:81)

These verses mention how Allah created and sustains various types of plants on earth for the benefit of humans and other creatures. They also highlight the beauty and diversity of nature, and the importance of showing gratitude and moderation in our use of natural resources.
