Mammals according to the Quran

In the Quran, mammals are not explicitly defined as a category of animals, but they are mentioned in several verses. Mammals are a group of animals characterized by the presence of mammary glands that produce milk to nourish their young. They are warm-blooded and have hair or fur covering their bodies. Some examples of mammals include humans, dogs, cats, horses, cows, elephants, whales, and dolphins.

The Quran mentions several types of mammals, including camels, cows, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, elephants, and lions. The Quran often uses these animals as examples in parables and stories to illustrate moral lessons and to emphasize the power and wisdom of Allah. For example, the story of the she-camel in Surah Al-Shams (91:11-14) is a famous example of this.

Mammals are also often mentioned in the Quran in the context of their use for food, clothing, and transportation. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:67), the Israelites are commanded to slaughter a cow as a sacrifice, and in Surah Al-Nahl (16:8), bees are mentioned for their honey, which is used as a source of food.

Overall, the Quran recognizes and values the importance of mammals as a significant part of Allah's creation and highlights the relationship between humans and animals as an integral aspect of nature.

Here are some Quranic verses that mention mammals:

"It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth. Then He directed Himself to the heaven, [His being above all creation], and made them seven heavens, and He is Knowing of all things." (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:29) - This verse mentions the creation of all that is on earth, which includes mammals.

"And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat." (Surah An-Nahl, 16:5) - This verse mentions the creation of livestock, which are mammals that are domesticated for human use.

"And there is no creature on [or within] the earth or bird that flies with its wings except [that they are] communities like you. We have not neglected in the Register a thing. Then unto their Lord they will be gathered." (Surah Al-An'am, 6:38) - This verse mentions all creatures on earth, including mammals, and highlights the fact that God has not neglected anything in His creation.

"And He has subjected to you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason." (Surah An-Nahl, 16:12) - This verse mentions the subjects that God has subjected to human beings, which include animals such as mammals.

"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Indeed in that are signs for those of knowledge." (Surah Ar-Rum, 30:22) - This verse mentions the signs of God, which include the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of creatures that inhabit the earth, including mammals.

These verses do not specifically mention mammals as a category of creatures, but they do refer to them indirectly by mentioning domesticated livestock and all creatures on earth.

"And of the cattle (are some) for burden (like camels etc.) and (some are) small (and humble like sheep etc.). Eat of what Allah has provided for you, and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Surely, he is to you an open enemy." [Surah Al-An'am 6:142]

"And Allah has created from water every living creature: so of them is that which walks upon its belly, and of them is that which walks upon two feet, and of them is that which walks upon four. Allah creates what He wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent." [Surah An-Nur 24:45]

"And cattle He has created for you (men): from them ye derive warmth, and numerous benefits, and of their (meat) ye eat." [Surah An-Nahl 16:5]

"And He has subjected to you, as from Him, all that is in the heavens and on earth: Behold, in that are Signs indeed for those who reflect." [Surah45:13]

"And (He has created) horses, mules and donkeys, for you to ride and as an adornment. And He creates (other) things of which you have no knowledge." [Surah An-Nahl 16:8]

"And the cattle, He has created them for you; in them there is warmth (clothing), and numerous benefits, and of them you eat." [Surah Al-Mu'minun 23:21]

"And (He has created) horses, mules and donkeys, for you to ride and as an adornment. And He creates (other) things of which you have no knowledge." [Surah An-Nahl 16:8]

"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the living creatures that He has scattered through them: and He has power to gather them together when He wills." [Surah Ash-Shura 42:29]

"Do they not see the birds above them, spreading out their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly (Allah) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things." [Surah Al-Mulk 67:19]

"And We have made the cattle tame for you; you derive warmth from them, and numerous benefits, and of their (meat) you eat." [Surah An-Nahl 16:5]

These verses show that the Quran acknowledges the existence and importance of various mammals, including camels, cattle, horses, donkeys, and more.

"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for people of knowledge. And among His signs is your sleep by night and day, and your seeking of His bounty. In this are signs for those who listen. And among His signs is that He shows you the lightning, inspiring fear and hope, and sends down water from the sky, reviving the earth after its death. In this are signs for people of understanding. And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and colors. In this are signs for those who know." (30:22-24)

"Do you not see that Allah has subjected to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and amply bestowed upon you His favors, both apparent and hidden? But of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening Book. And when it is said to them, 'Follow what Allah has revealed,' they say, 'Rather, we will follow that which we found our fathers doing.' Even if Satan was inviting them to the punishment of the Blaze? And whoever submits his face to Allah while he is a doer of good - then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold. And to Allah will be the outcome of all matters." (31:20-22)

"And among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the diversity of your languages and your colors. Surely in that are signs for those who know. And among His signs is your sleeping at night and your seeking of His bounty during the day. Surely in that are signs for those who listen. And among His signs He shows you the lightning, by way of fear and hope, and He sends down rain from the sky, and with it revives the earth after its death. Surely in that are signs for those who understand. And among His signs is the creation of all the living creatures in pairs, and the dispersion of yourselves throughout the earth. Surely in that are signs for those who have certainty." (42:27-29)

"Allah is He who created you from weakness, then made after weakness strength, then made after strength weakness and white hair. He creates what He wills, and He is the Knowing, the Competent. And on the Day the Hour appears the criminals will swear they had remained but an hour. Thus they were deluded. But those who were given knowledge and faith will say, 'You remained the extent of Allah's decree until the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection, but you did not used to know.' So that Day, their excuse will not benefit those who wronged, nor will they be asked to appease Allah." (30:54-57)
