Judgment Day length and Sun as the light source according to the Quran

According to the Quran, Judgment Day, also known as the Day of Resurrection, will be a time of great reckoning and immense suffering for those who have turned away from God. The Quran describes it as a scorching day when the sun will be darkened, and the mountains will be crushed to dust. The length of this day is also emphasized, with the Quran stating that a single day will feel like 50,000 years to the souls being judged. The righteous will be granted mercy and salvation, while the sinners will face punishment for their actions. The day will culminate in the final judgment, where each soul will be held accountable for their deeds, and their ultimate fate will be determined.

According to the Quran, the Day of Judgment is described as a time of great reckoning and ultimate justice. It is a day of scorching heat and intense suffering, as the sun is brought closer to the earth, and the mountains are turned to dust. The length of this day is said to be equal to

50,000 years

in human reckoning (Quran 70:4).

On this day, all human beings will be raised from the dead and will stand before Allah for judgment. Their deeds, both good and bad, will be weighed on a scale of justice. Those who have done good deeds will be rewarded with paradise, while those who have done evil will be punished with hellfire.

The Quran describes the intense suffering of those who will be cast into hell, where they will experience unquenchable thirst, painful punishments, and the remorse of knowing that they have lost out on the eternal pleasures of paradise. In contrast, those who enter paradise will be rewarded with immense blessings, including the pleasure of being in the presence of Allah, rivers of pure water, and bountiful gardens of fruits and flowers.

Overall, the Day of Judgment is described as a time of great trial and tribulation, but also of ultimate justice and reward. It is a reminder to all human beings to live their lives in accordance with the teachings of Allah, seeking His forgiveness and mercy at all times.

Here are some Quranic verses related to the topic of the sun on the Day of Judgment:

"And when the sun is wrapped up [in darkness]" (Quran 81:1) - this verse refers to the end of the world and the Day of Judgment when the sun will be extinguished.

"When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] and when the stars fall, dispersing, and when the mountains are removed" (Quran 81: 1-3) - this verse describes the apocalyptic events of the Day of Judgment.

"And [by] the sun and its brightness, and [by] the moon when it follows it" (Quran 91:1-2) - this verse highlights the significance of the sun and the moon as celestial bodies.

"And has subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in orbit], and subjected for you the night and the day" (Quran 31:29) - this verse emphasizes the role of the sun and the moon in the natural world and as a blessing from Allah.

"And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly" (Quran 25:32) - this verse refers to the gradual revelation of the Quran and uses the metaphor of the sun and its gradual rising to emphasize the gradual process of revelation.

There are several Quranic verses that mention the concept of time and length on the Day of Judgment. Some examples include:

"And they urge you to hasten the punishment. But Allah will never fail in His promise. And indeed, a day with your Lord is like a thousand years of those which you count." (Quran 22:47)

"And We have already sent [messengers] to nations before you, [O Muhammad]; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves [to Us]. If only, when Our punishment came to them, they had humbled themselves! But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing. So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair. So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds." (Quran 6:42-45)

"And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" If only those who disbelieved knew when they would not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs; and they will not be aided. Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved." (Quran 21:34-37)

These verses indicate that time will seem to pass differently on the Day of Judgment, with a day feeling like a thousand years or coming unexpectedly and suddenly. This emphasizes the importance of preparing for the Day of Judgment and living a righteous life in accordance with Allah's commandments.
