Hell Jahannam - according to the Quran

The Quran describes Hell, Jahannam, as a place of intense punishment and suffering. The punishments in Hell are depicted through various physical torments such as burning, boiling water, chains, iron hooks, scorching winds, tasting pus and filth, and the tree of Zaqqum. The inhabitants of Hell are described as being in a state of despair, regret, and hopelessness. They are also subjected to psychological torments, such as the constant reminder of their wrongdoing and the fear of never being forgiven. The Quran warns believers to be mindful of their actions and to strive for righteousness in order to avoid the punishment of Hell. Jahannam is one of the names of Hell mentioned in the Quran, and is often described as a place of punishment for the disbelievers and wrongdoers. Here are some verses that mention Jahannam:

Surah Al-Ma'arij, verses 14-17: "Surely, the punishment of your Lord will come to pass. There is none who can avert it. On the Day when the sky will be like molten brass and the mountains will be like wool, and no friend will ask (anything) of a friend, as they will be made to see them. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children, and his wife and his brother, and his kindred who sheltered him, and all that are on earth, if only that could save him."

Surah Al-Furqan, verse 11: "But they have denied the Hour (i.e. the Day of Judgment), and for those who deny the Hour We have prepared a blazing Fire."

Surah Al-Muddaththir, verses 26-30: "No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen (a register of the disobedient), and what can make you know what is sijjeen? It is a written book. Woe, that Day, to the deniers, who deny the Day of Recompense. And none deny it except every sinful transgressor."

These verses describe Jahannam as a place of punishment that cannot be averted, where the disbelievers and wrongdoers will suffer. The punishment of Jahannam is severe and its description is often metaphorical, such as the sky being like molten brass and mountains like wool. The disbelievers who deny the Day of Judgment will be the ones who suffer the most in Jahannam.
