The names Munkar and Nakir are not mentioned specifically in the Quran as names of angels. However, there are Hadiths (narrations) from the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) that mention these names in reference to the angels that question people in the grave.
According to Islamic tradition, after a person dies and is buried, two angels visit them in their grave and question them about their beliefs and deeds. These angels are known as Munkar and Nakir.
Their questions are as follows:
- Who is your Lord?
- What is your religion?
- Who is your Prophet?
What did you used to say about this man (Prophet Muhammad)?
These questions are intended to test the person's faith and belief in Allah and the teachings of Islam.
While the names Munkar and Nakir are not mentioned in the Quran, the concept of questioning in the grave is referenced in several verses, including Surah Ibrahim, verse 27:
"And We will surely let them taste the nearer punishment (in this life) short of the greater punishment (in the Hereafter) that perhaps they will repent."
Islamic tradition holds that this verse refers to the questioning of the angels in the grave and the punishment or reward that follows based on a person's answers.
