Angel Israfil in the Quran

In Islamic theology, Angel Israfil is one of the four archangels and is responsible for blowing the trumpet on the Day of Judgment. The Quran does not mention the name "Israfil," but there are several verses that describe the blowing of the trumpet and the events that will occur on the Day of Judgment.

Here are a few verses from the Quran related to the blowing of the trumpet and the Day of Judgment:

"And [mention] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills. And all will come to Him humbled." (Surah An-Naml, Verse 87)

"And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on." (Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 68)

"And [mention] the Day We will cause the mountains to pass and you will see the earth prominent, and We will gather them and not leave behind from them anyone." (Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 47)

These verses describe the terror and chaos that will ensue on the Day of Judgment, with the blowing of the trumpet as a sign of the impending end of the world. The archangel Israfil is believed to be responsible for blowing the trumpet and initiating the final events of the Day of Judgment.

"And the Trumpet shall be blown, and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth shall swoon away, except him whom Allah wills. Then it shall be blown a second time, and lo! they shall stand up, looking on." (Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 68)

"And the Trumpet will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on." (Surah Az-Zumar, Verse 68)

"And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them." (Surah Al-Haqqa, Verse 17)

"On that Day, the Trumpet will be blown, and you will come forth in crowds." (Surah Al-Furqan, Verse 30)

These verses highlight the power and authority of Allah, as well as the inevitability of the Day of Judgment. The archangel Israfil is believed to be the one who will blow the trumpet and initiate the final events of the Day of Judgment, including the resurrection of the dead and the judgment of all souls.

"And the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills.

"And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little." And if We willed, We could surely take away that which We have revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us. Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great. Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants." (Surah Al-Isra, Verses 85-88)

"And [mention] the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], and there will follow it the subsequent [one]." (Surah Qaf, Verse 20)

These verses emphasize the power and authority of Allah, and the inevitability of the Day of Judgment. Angel Israfil is believed to be the one who will blow the trumpet and initiate the final events of the Day of Judgment, which will result in the resurrection of the dead and the judgment of all souls. The Quran emphasizes that only Allah has complete knowledge and power over all things, and that humans can only know and understand a limited amount of what has been revealed to them.

"Say, 'Whoever is an enemy to Gabriel - it is [none but] he who has brought the Quran down upon your heart, [O Muhammad], by permission of Allah, confirming that which was before it and as guidance and good tidings for the believers.' Whoever is an enemy to Allah and His angels and His messengers and Gabriel and Michael - then indeed, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers." (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 97-98)

"And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Isma'il. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet. And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakah and was to his Lord pleasing. And [mention] when Isma'il said, 'O my Lord, make me an establisher of prayer and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication. Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established.' And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror]." (Surah Ibrahim, Verses 35-38)

"So when the Horn is blown with one blast, and the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur." (Surah Al-Haqqa, Verses 13-15)

These verses reiterate the importance of belief in Allah and His angels, and the power and authority of Allah. They also remind believers of the importance of prayer and seeking forgiveness, and the inevitability of the Day of Judgment.

"The Day when the Horn is blown, and you will come forth in multitudes, and the heaven is opened and will become gateways, and the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait for the transgressors, a place of return, in which they will remain for ages [unending]." (Surah Al-Naba, Verses 18-23)

"And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, 'The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind has not been given of knowledge except a little.' And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us. Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great. Say, 'If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Quran, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants.'" (Surah Al-Isra, Verses 85-89)

"And [mention] when the angels said, 'O Mary, indeed Allah has chosen you and purified you and chosen you above the women of the worlds. O Mary, be devoutly obedient to your Lord and prostrate and bow with those who bow [in prayer].' That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed." (Surah Al-Imran, Verses 42-44)

These verses emphasize the power and authority of Allah, the importance of obedience to Him, and the uniqueness of the Quran. They also mention the role of Angel Israfil on the Day of Judgment and the importance of Mary, the mother of Jesus, in Islamic belief.

"And the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will fall dead except whom Allah wills. Then it will be blown again, and at once they will be standing, looking on. And the earth will shine with the light of its Lord, and the record [of deeds] will be placed, and the prophets and the witnesses will be brought, and it will be judged between them in truth, and they will not be wronged." (Surah Al-Zumar, Verses 68-69)

"And those in the graves will hear the blast of the Horn, and they will come out from their graves toward their Lord. They will say, 'O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?' [The reply will be], 'This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth.' It is not but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us." (Surah Ya-Sin, Verses 51-53)

"The Day when the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct. That is the True [i.e., certain] Day; so whoever wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return." (Surah Al-Naba, Verses 38-39)

These verses continue to emphasize the power and authority of Allah, the importance of obedience to Him, and the role of Angel Israfil in the events of the Day of Judgment. They also mention the role of the Spirit (i.e., the angel Jibril) and the importance of accepting the truth of the Quran and the messages of the prophets.
