Allah caused a man to sleep for a century - in the Quran

The story of the "Sleepers of the Cave" is mentioned in the Quran in Surah Al-Kahf (Chapter 18, verses 9-26). According to the story, a group of young men who believed in Allah and His message sought refuge in a cave to escape persecution by their society, which was dominated by people who worshiped idols.

As they slept in the cave, Allah caused them to remain in a state of deep sleep for over 300 years (some scholars say the period was 309 or 300 solar years, while others say it was lunar years). When they eventually woke up, they thought they had only slept for a day or part of a day.

The story of the "Sleepers of the Cave" is often seen as a demonstration of Allah's power and control over time and space. It is also seen as a reminder of the importance of faith and perseverance, as the young men in the story remained steadfast in their belief in Allah despite the persecution they faced.

The story has been interpreted in different ways by scholars and has been the subject of various cultural and literary works. However, the basic message remains that Allah has the power to control time and space and can grant miracles to those who have faith in Him.

Verse 2:259 of the Quran talks about the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) and how Allah demonstrated His power to him. The verse reads:

"Or [consider such an example] as the one who passed by a township which had fallen into ruin. He said, "How will Allah bring this to life after its death?" So Allah caused him to die for a hundred years; then He revived him. He said, "How long have you remained?" The man said, "I have remained a day or part of a day." He said, "Rather, you have remained one hundred years. Look at your food and your drink; it has not changed with time. And look at your donkey; and We will make you a sign for the people. And look at the bones [of this donkey] - how We raise them and then We cover them with flesh." And when it became clear to him, he said, "I know that Allah is over all things competent."

The verse tells the story of a man who passed by a ruined town and questioned how Allah would be able to revive it after its destruction. Allah caused the man to die for a hundred years and then revived him. When the man was brought back to life, he was amazed to see that his food and drink had not decayed and that his donkey was still there. Allah showed him how He could bring back the dead bones to life and cover them with flesh.

This story is often cited as an example of Allah's power and ability to bring the dead back to life. It also highlights the importance of having faith in Allah and trusting in His power and ability to bring about miracles. The verse serves as a reminder that Allah is capable of doing anything He wills, and that nothing is impossible for Him.
