Forced marriage according to the Quran

Forced marriage in Islam refers to a marriage in which one or both parties do not freely consent to the marriage. Islam upholds the principle of free choice and consent in marriage, as stated in the Qur'an. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also emphasized the importance of obtaining the consent of the bride and groom in marriage.

Forced marriage is considered a violation of human rights and is strictly prohibited in Islam. The Qur'an emphasizes the importance of treating women with kindness and equity, and prohibits any form of mistreatment or harm towards them. Additionally, the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of mutual consent and mutual respect in marriage, and encourages couples to treat each other with kindness and compassion.

In Islam, marriage is considered a contract between two consenting adults, and both parties must willingly agree to the marriage. Any marriage that takes place without the free and full consent of both parties is considered invalid in Islam. Forced marriage is a cultural practice that is not supported by Islam, and it is important to recognize and address this issue to ensure that the rights and dignity of all individuals are protected.

Forced marriage, which refers to a marriage in which one or both parties do not freely consent to the marriage, is strictly prohibited in Islam. Islam upholds the principle of free choice and consent in marriage, as stated in the Qur'an:

Surah An-Nisa, Verse 19: "O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will. Nor should ye treat them with harshness, that ye may take away part of the dower ye have given them,-except where they have been guilty of open lewdness; on the contrary live with them on a footing of kindness and equity. If ye take a dislike to them it may be that ye dislike a thing, and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good."

Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 232: "And when ye have divorced women, and they have reached their term, then retain them in kindness or release them in kindness. Retain them not to their hurt so that ye transgress (the limits). He who doeth that hath wronged his soul. Make not the revelations of Allah a laughing-stock (by your behavior), but remember Allah's grace upon you, and that which He hath revealed unto you of the Scripture and of wisdom, whereby He doth exhort you. Observe your duty to Allah and know that Allah is Aware of all things."

These verses clearly indicate that women cannot be forced into a marriage against their will. The Qur'an also highlights the importance of treating women with kindness and equity, and prohibits any form of mistreatment or harm towards them. Additionally, the Qur'an emphasizes the importance of mutual consent and mutual respect in marriage, and encourages couples to treat each other with kindness and compassion.
