Adoptions of Judaism and Christianity in the Qur'an

The Qur'an acknowledges the existence of both Judaism and Christianity as Abrahamic faiths that preceded the advent of Islam.

With regards to Judaism, the Qur'an recognizes Jews as the "People of the Book" and refers to the Torah as a divine scripture. The Qur'an also acknowledges the prophets of Judaism, including Moses and Aaron, as well as the stories of the Israelites.

Similarly, the Qur'an acknowledges Christianity as a religion that traces its roots to the teachings of Jesus Christ, who is considered a prophet in Islam. The Qur'an also affirms the belief in the divine origin of the Gospel, although it maintains that the message of Jesus was later distorted by his followers.

However, while the Qur'an recognizes the validity of Judaism and Christianity as Abrahamic faiths, it also presents Islam as the culmination of divine revelation, superseding and perfecting the previous revelations. The Qur'an emphasizes the importance of belief in Allah as the one true God, and the importance of following the teachings and practices of Islam as the true and complete guidance for humanity.

Here are some verses from the Qur'an that reference the adoption of Judaism and Christianity:

Adoption of Judaism:

"Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."" (3:64)

"And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel that you not take other than Me as Disposer of affairs," (17:2)

"Indeed, We gave the Book to Moses, but differences arose therein. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt." (11:110)

Adoption of Christianity:

"And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous." (5:46)

"And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. [We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought." (16:43-44)

"And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds." (21:107)

It is important to note that while the Qur'an recognizes the validity of Judaism and Christianity as Abrahamic faiths, it also presents Islam as the final and complete message from God, superseding and perfecting the previous revelations.
