Tawakkul (trust) according to the Quran

Tawakkul is an Arabic term that refers to trust, reliance, or dependence on Allah. It is the act of placing complete trust and confidence in Allah and relying on Him to provide for one's needs and protect one from harm. Tawakkul is a fundamental aspect of Islamic faith and is closely related to the concept of Taqwa (fear of Allah).

In Islamic teachings, Tawakkul is seen as an important means of attaining peace of mind, inner tranquility, and contentment. It is believed that those who place their trust in Allah and rely on Him in all situations will be rewarded with His help and protection. This does not mean that one should simply sit idle and not take any action, but rather that one should do everything in their power to achieve their goals and then leave the rest to Allah.

The concept of Tawakkul is mentioned in numerous Quranic verses, including:

"And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent." (Quran 65:3)

"And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent." (Quran 65:2-3)

"And whoever puts all his trust in Allah - He will suffice him." (Quran 65:3)

These verses emphasize the importance of relying on Allah and placing one's trust in Him. They also assure believers that Allah will provide for them and help them overcome their difficulties if they have complete trust in Him.

Here are some Quranic verses that mention Tawakkul:

"And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, He will be enough for him." (Quran 65:3)

"And upon Allah let the believers rely." (Quran 14:11)

"But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne." (Quran 9:129)

"And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs." (Quran 33:3)

These verses highlight the importance of Tawakkul and placing trust in Allah. They also assure believers that Allah is sufficient for all their needs and will provide for them in ways they may not even expect. "And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah]" (Quran 2:45)

"So whoever Allah wants to guide - He expands his breast to [contain] Islam; and whoever He wants to misguide - He makes his breast tight and constricted as though he were climbing into the sky. Thus does Allah place defilement upon those who do not believe." (Quran 6:125)

"And [remember] when you said, "O Moses, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its onions." [Moses] said, "Would you exchange what is better for what is less? Go into [any] settlement and indeed, you will have what you have asked." And they were covered with humiliation and poverty and returned with anger from Allah [upon them]. That was because they [repeatedly] disbelieved in the signs of Allah and killed the prophets without right. That was because they disobeyed and were [habitually] transgressing." (Quran 2:61)
