Punishment in Hell - according to the Quran

The Quran emphasize the severity and eternity of the punishment in Hell for those who reject Allah's message and persist in their disobedience. The punishment in Hell is described as searing and painful, and the regret of the disbelievers is highlighted, as they wish they had followed Allah and His Messenger instead of being led astray by their leaders and dignitaries. The gates of Hell will open for the disbelievers and they will be driven to Hell in groups, where they will abide eternally with no reprieve. The punishment in Hell is not subject to lightening, and those who disbelieved and did evil will receive double punishment and a great curse.

The Quran describes various forms of punishment that the inhabitants of Hell will face, which includes:

Fire: The Quran frequently mentions that the primary punishment in Hell will be through fire. The disbelievers will be thrown into a blazing fire, which will burn their skins and internal organs (Surah Al-Hajj 22:19-22).

Boiling water: In addition to fire, the disbelievers will be made to drink boiling water which will rip apart their intestines (Surah Muhammad 47:15).

Chains: The Quran states that the disbelievers will be bound in chains, yokes, and fetters, and will be dragged by angels into the blazing fire (Surah Al-Hajj 22:21).

Punishment by iron hooks: The disbelievers will be branded with iron hooks, and their faces, hands, and feet will be marked with them (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:275).

Scorching winds: The inhabitants of Hell will be exposed to scorching winds, which will scorch their faces and burn their skins (Surah Al-Mursalat 77:31-33).

Tasting pus and filth: The disbelievers will be made to eat from the tree of Zaqqum, which produces fruits like heads of devils and boils in their stomach (Surah Al-Dukhan 44:43-46).

These punishments serve as a warning to the disbelievers and remind the believers to turn towards Allah and seek His forgiveness and guidance so that they may be saved from the punishment of Hell.

"They will have coverings of fire above them and coverings beneath them. With this, Allah strikes fear into the hearts of His servants. So, beware of Me, O My servants!" (Surah Al-Zumar 39:16)

"And for those who disbelieve in their Lord, there will be the punishment of Hell, and how wretched is the destination." (Surah Al-Furqan 25:11)

"Those who reject Our Signs, We shall soon cast into the Fire: as often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for fresh skins, that they may taste the penalty: for Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise." (Surah Al-Nisa 4:56)

"And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger and transgresses His limits - He will put him into the Fire to abide eternally therein, and he will have a humiliating punishment." (Surah Al-Nisa 4:14)

These verses illustrate the severity and eternal nature of the punishment in Hell for those who reject Allah's guidance and disobey His commandments.

"Theirs will be an awful doom; and they will have no helpers." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:167)

"Indeed, those who disbelieve in Our verses - We will drive them into a Fire. Every time their skins are roasted through, We will replace them with other skins so they may taste the punishment. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise." (Surah Al-Nisa 4:56)

"Indeed, Allah has cursed the disbelievers and prepared for them a Blaze." (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:64)

"And We will drive the sinners to Hell in throngs, until, when they reach it, its gates are opened, and its keepers will say to them, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers." (Surah Al-Zumar 39:71)

These verses emphasize the terrible fate that awaits those who reject Allah's message and persist in their disbelief and disobedience. The punishment in Hell is described as severe and eternal, and it serves as a warning to those who are tempted to turn away from the path of righteousness.

"And those who have disbelieved and denied Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire." (Surah Al-Maidah 5:86)

"But those who have disbelieved and denied Our signs - those are the companions of the Fire, abiding eternally therein; and wretched is the destination." (Surah Al-Imran 3:131)

"Indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire - and never will you find for them a helper." (Surah An-Nisa 4:145)

"And if you could but see when the wrongdoers are in the overwhelming pangs of death while the angels extend their hands, saying, "Discharge your souls! Today you will be awarded the punishment of humiliation for what you used to say against Allah other than the truth and because you were, toward His verses, being arrogant." (Surah Al-An'am 6:93)

These verses continue to emphasize the terrible punishment that awaits those who reject Allah's guidance and persist in their disobedience. The companions of Hellfire are described as wretched and without hope, and the hypocrites are singled out as being among the worst of sinners. The punishment is described as a result of their arrogance and rejection of the truth, and serves as a warning to those who might be tempted to follow in their footsteps.

"And those who disbelieved will be driven to Hell in groups until, when they reach it, its gates are opened and its keepers will say, "Did there not come to you messengers from yourselves, reciting to you the verses of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "Yes, but the word of punishment has come into effect upon the disbelievers." (Surah Az-Zumar 39:71)

"The Fire will sear their faces, and they therein will have taut smiles." (Surah Al-Mumenoon 23:104)

"Indeed, those who have disbelieved and done evil will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally therein; it will not be lightened for them, and they will not be reprieved." (Surah Al-Maidah 5:37)

"And they will say, "If only we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Messenger." And they will say, "Our Lord, indeed we obeyed our masters and our dignitaries, and they led us astray from the [right] way. Our Lord, give them double the punishment and curse them with a great curse." (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:66-68)

These verses continue to emphasize the severity and eternity of the punishment in Hell for those who reject Allah's message and persist in their disobedience. The Fire is described as searing and painful, and the punishment is permanent and not subject to lightening or reprieve. The regret of the disbelievers is also highlighted, as they wish they had followed Allah and His Messenger instead of being led astray by their leaders and dignitaries.
