Iman according to the Quran

Iman is an Arabic term that translates to "faith" or "belief" in English. In the Quran, the term Iman is used to describe the core beliefs and convictions that a Muslim holds in their heart and that guide their actions in life.

The concept of Iman in the Quran includes belief in Allah as the one and only God, belief in the Prophets and Messengers of Allah, belief in the Day of Judgment and the Afterlife, belief in the angels, and belief in the divine revelation of the Quran.

In addition to these core beliefs, Iman is also associated with actions that reflect this faith, such as prayer, fasting, charity, and other acts of worship and good deeds.

Overall, Iman is considered to be a fundamental aspect of Islam, and it is through the cultivation of strong faith that Muslims strive to attain closeness to Allah and ultimate salvation in the Hereafter.

Here are some verses from the Quran that mention Iman (faith):

"This is the Book in which there is no doubt, a guide for the righteous. Those who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them" (2:2-3)

"The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely" (8:2)

"And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. Allah named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakah and hold fast to Allah. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper" (22:78)

"O you who have believed, seek help through patience and prayer. Indeed, Allah is with the patient" (2:153)

"And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart." (17:81)

"Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]" (3:64)
