Prophet Idris (Enoch) - in the Quran

In Islam, Prophet Idris (also known as Enoch) is believed to be a prophet sent by Allah to guide his people. He is mentioned in the Quran as a man of truth and a prophet who was raised to a high station.

Islamic tradition holds that Prophet Idris lived for over 900 years and was the first human being to be given the gift of writing. He is also believed to have been a skilled craftsman and to have built structures and devices that were ahead of their time.

Prophet Idris is highly respected in Islamic tradition and is regarded as one of the early prophets who helped to guide humanity towards righteousness and the worship of Allah. His story and teachings serve as an example for Muslims to follow in their own lives, emphasizing the importance of honesty, faith, and good deeds.

In the Quran, Prophet Idris (also known as Enoch) is mentioned twice:

Chapter 19, Verse 56-57:

"And mention in the Book, Idris. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet. And We raised him to a high station."

These verses refer to the prophet Idris (also known as Enoch), who is mentioned in the Quran as a man of truth and a prophet who was raised to a high station by Allah. The phrase "mention in the Book" is a reference to the Quran itself, which is believed by Muslims to be the divine revelation of Allah. The mention of Idris in the Quran indicates his importance as a prophet and his role in guiding humanity towards righteousness.

Chapter 21, Verse 85-86:

"And Ishmael and Elisha and Jonah and Lot - and all [of them] We preferred over the worlds. And [some] among their fathers and their descendants and their brothers - and We chose them and We guided them to a straight path."

These verses mention several prophets who were chosen by Allah and guided to a straight path. Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot are named specifically, but the verse also alludes to other prophets and their families who were chosen and guided by Allah. The phrase "preferred over the worlds" suggests that these prophets were highly respected and revered by Allah, and held in high regard among all of humanity.

Overall, these verses from the Quran emphasize the importance of prophets in Islamic tradition, and the role they play in guiding humanity towards righteousness and the worship of Allah. They also demonstrate the high esteem in which prophets are held in Islamic belief, and the value that is placed on their teachings and guidance.

Note that in the second verse, Prophet Idris is not specifically mentioned by name, but is believed by some scholars to be one of the prophets referenced in the list.
