Seerah 027 - Read. The First Revelation
Sahih Muslim » The Book on Government
It has been narrated (through a
diferent chain of transmetters) on the same authority (i. e. Abu Sa'id Khadri)
who said:
A man asked: Messenger of Allah,
which of men is the best? He said: A believer who fights staking his life and
spending his wealth in the way of Allah. He asked: Who is next to him (in
excellence)? He said: Next to him is a man who lives an isolated life in
a mountain gorge, worshipping his Lord and sparing men from his mischief.

Sahih Muslim » The Book of Virtues
Abu Huraira reported many ahadith
from Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and one is that Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him) said:
I am most close to Jesus, son of
Mary, among the whole of mankind in this worldly life and
the next life. They said: Allah's Messenger how is it?
Thereupon he said: Prophets are brothers in faith, having different mothers.
Their religion is, however, one and there is no Apostle between us (between I
and Jesus Christ).

Supplication, Repentance and Seeking Forgiveness
Abu Huraira reported that Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him) used to supplicate (in these words):
" O Allah, set right for me my
religion which is the safeguard of my affairs. And set right for me the affairs
of my world wherein is my living. And set right for me my Hereafter on which
depends my after-life. And make the life for
me (a source) of abundance for every good and make my death a source of comfort
for me protecting me against every evil."

Sahih al-Bukhari » Fighting for the Cause of Allah (Jihaad)
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "Were it
not for the fear that it would be difficult for my followers, I would not have
remained behind any Sariya, (army-unit) but I don't have riding camels and have
no other means of conveyance to carry them on, and it is hard for me that my
companions should remain behind me. No doubt I wish I could fight in Allah's
Cause and be martyred and come to life again to be
martyred and come to life once more."
