Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah:

The Prophet said, "I was in a seclusion in the cave of Hira........."(similar to the narration related by `Ali bin Al-Mubarak, 444 above).

حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، وَغَيْرُهُ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، رضى الله عنهما عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏ "‏ جَاوَرْتُ بِحِرَاءٍ ‏"‏‏.‏ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ‏.‏

This hadith has been transmitted by Qatada with the same chain of transmitters. But Shu'ba (one of the narrators) said:

At the end of Surah al-Kahf, but Hammam said: At the beginning of Surah al-Kahf.

وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَابْنُ، بَشَّارٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، جَمِيعًا عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ مِنْ آخِرِ الْكَهْفِ ‏.‏ وَقَالَ هَمَّامٌ مِنْ أَوَّلِ الْكَهْفِ كَمَا قَالَ هِشَامٌ.

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mas`ud:

Surat Bani-lsrael, Al-Kahf (The Cave), Maryam, Taha, Al-Anbiya' (The prophets) are amongst my first earnings and my old property, and (in fact) they are my old property.

حَدَّثَنَا آدَمُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَالْكَهْفِ وَمَرْيَمَ إِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الْعِتَاقِ الأُوَلِ، وَهُنَّ مِنْ تِلاَدِي‏.‏ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ‏{‏فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ‏}‏ يَهُزُّونَ‏.‏ وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ نَغَضَتْ سِنُّكَ أَىْ تَحَرَّكَتْ‏.‏

Narrated Ibn 'Umar:

that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said to Abu Bakr: "You are my companion at the Hawd, and my companion in the cave."

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْقَطَّانُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ أَبِي الأَسْوَدِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي كَثِيرٌ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ جُمَيْعِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ لأَبِي بَكْرٍ ‏ "‏ أَنْتَ صَاحِبِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ وَصَاحِبِي فِي الْغَارِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.‏

He said to his friend, “Do not be sad, Allah is with us.” Then Allah made His tranquility descend on him, and He supported him with forces you did not see, and He made the word of those who disbelieve the lowest, while Allah’s Word is the Highest. Allah is Mighty and Wise.
